This year NHCGNE will be honoring Neville Strumpf, PhD, RN, FAAN. Dr. Strumpf is an internationally-renowned scholar and educator in geriatric nursing. From her research on the harms of physical restraints in the care of frail older adults, to her decades of teaching at Penn Nursing, Strumpf is a tireless advocate for high-quality elder care.
NHCGNE is also pleased to announce that the interviewer will be renowned gerontological researcher Ann Kolanowski, PhD, RN, FAAN.
Given the rapidly growing older adult population and the urgent need to prepare the future nurse workforce to care for an aging population, it is imperative to have well-prepared nurse educators not only with knowledge and skills in care of older adults, but also with teaching competence so that they can foster positive attitudes toward older adults and actively engage learners at all levels.
