The Center for Excellence in Long Term Care was created in response to state legislation that called for a center of excellence related to aging in Texas.

Our center was designed as a place where nurses practicing in long term care, family members, as well as people of any age can go to find the latest information on best practices in LTC. Our official mission is to promote the highest standards of geriatric care in the nation for the benefit of the citizens of Texas using advances in technology, research, and education. We have free continuing education programs offered through our website, and through on-site conferences and seminars.
The Center is also responsible for conducting research on the quality of long term care research. An advisory board made up of state leaders in aging cultivate initiatives for our advocacy efforts. The Center was made possible through a collaboration between UT Austin School of Nursing and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Quality Management Program.
